I have no words
Last night was epic folks, seriously. I mean, I laughed so hard I cried. I think Tam nearly peed her pants layer. I have not been so amused on an adventure in quite some time! And with an intro like that, you know there’s a story to be had just for you.
It all started because Tam and I found the landmark to the store selling Fuzzy the Bunny. I had seen him back at Cream Shop a while back and loved him, so we followed it. Each of us ended up with a fuzzy bunny all our own, by the way. I chilled in this tree for a while, and then we got bored and decided to explore.
That’s when we saw it. Across the street this mini mart of sorts was calling to us. We didn’t know what it was or what we’d find, but it was giant, pink, and had weird stuff sitting in the parking lot out front. We were forced, of course, to go and investigate. The Numery Mart beckoned.
Weekend Roundup
So this was a weekend of openings, parties, and fashion for me. First was the Adam n Eve opening I already to ya’ll about. Then I was seriously glad that I put on an appropriately fabulous outfit on Saturday morning, because I got invited to the Glam World opening. Okay okay, so lots of people got invited. But let me feel special for just a sec, will ya? Seriously though, saw a lot of old friends and familiar places and got to bump and grind with some of the best of them.
Grand Opening
Okay, so I’m a little vain. But when I put on this outfit, I just felt like going out and doing something fabulous. It all started with the jacket from Mimikri Hot Couture. The City Cat jacket in red called to me with it’s fantastic quilted pattern. I wish I could mod the arm prims, but that wasn’t enough to stop me from wearing this jacket all over the grid. But the jacket begged for a sleek pencil skirt, and luckily for me Ingenue just released tons of pencil skirts as part of their Vintage Basics line. So I snagged a black one and kept going. Then I popped over to Shiny Things and grabbed a black snakeskin belt to polish it up. From there I added fishnet tights from Mimikri’s City Cat outfit, and the s111 Urban Black boots from Cre@ction. Top it off with the Diamond Starry Nights set from 7 Deadly Prims, and I was ready to go out on the town!
Is that a…. ?
What an interesting night I had! Believe it or not, I had logged on last night with a list of places to go and new shops to check out, but I ended up getting totally sidetracked from my shopping mission. (Okay, well not totally. But mostly.)
First I answered a call for help to the SL Bloggers group. Someone is attempting to develop a new HUD that will store animation permissions so that interacting with other avatars is more like interacting with people. In real life, there’s no blue box to click “yes” on to animate your avatar, so this HUD would eliminate that in Second Life too. After a while though, we just started playing ad even did Tai Chi together for a while!
Then Daphne and Tamara were free so I hopped back over to Nowhereville to visit with my friends. When I got there, I saw they had some company too. So Daph, Tam, and I all hung out and joked around with Haver Cole for a while. We talked about fashion, and shapes, and avatars, and monkeys, and poop. Yes, I said poop. And so it was that I ended up sitting on a giant turd with Haver Cole.
After the turd, I really just needed to take a shower and get some sleep, so that was the end of my adventure for the evening. But never let it be said that my Second Life is predictable or boring!
Arrrrr!
I partied so hard last night that I just pooped right out before I could properly pirate at ya’ll here. So you get it today instead. Besides, everyone loves pirates so a little more piratey goodness won’t hurt!
Every Wednesday is traditionally Black Tie Martini Club night, when my friends and I all dress in our formals and dance to well, whatever Caleb is moved to play. But since yesterday was also Talk Like a Pirate Day, we all donned our piratey gear and yo-ho-hoed merrily throughout the night. One of us even took to wearing and firing cannons, but I’ll let Crap Mariner remain nameless. (Ooooops.)
A Fashionista’s Dilemma
So, here’s some food for thought. I consider myself to be a fairly stylin’ avatar girl. I know all the hip places to shop, keep up with new releases, and am always on the lookout for cool, new, and undiscovered treasures. Plus I’m pretty easy on the eyes if I do say so myself. But I have this thing about matching. I love to match. That’s right, you heard it here first. I’m a matching whore.
But as I peruse through my favorite blogs and info, I see this trend towards mixing it up. Breaking up outfits and throwing pieces together in new and innovative ways. Now don’t get me wrong, I think these people are putting together some tres cool stuff here. Not to mention the fact that it all coordinates nicely. These are some high style folks, is what I’m saying. But must one do this to be fashionable? Is the mixing up of everything required to be a truly stylish avie?
Public Service Announcement
Hear ye hear ye! I have an announcement to make.
I would like you all to know, once and for all, that I am NOT in the 12 Avatars contest. In light of this announcement, I would ask that you please NOT vote for me. No incentives or otherwise, just sayin’.
Thanks.
Dutch Touch
You know, I used to be strictly a preppy sort of avatar girl. But lately I’ve been having fun experimenting with different looks and things as my mood changes. I mean after all, since there’s no limit to what I can be or the size of my virtual closet, why not right? Anyway, that’s why I decided to visit Dutch Touch after reading about it in Second Style Fashionista.
As you can clearly see, I had all the other ingredients for a perfectly edgy urban sort of look. The outfit I’m wearing here is called Holey Moe and is my favorite out of the few I grabbed. I love all the layers, and especially the stars peeking through the top.
From what I can see, the clothes are all well made and look great on. And even though the shop is very much the dark urban sort of look, I think there just might be a little something anyone can wear in there. I even picked up an outfit with an argyle sweater!
Now I choose to go the full route and throw on my neko gear as well, but this may have more to do with me liking ears and a tail than with the clothing requiring it. I think anyone would look just as hot as a human in these clothes. And I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from Dutch Touch!
Awww… group hug
Just as I was getting ready for bed last night, Tam says she’s being summoned to a group hug and asks if I want to come along. Of course I do!
Now, I remember talking about the group hug while we were at SLCC, seeing a presentation where it was mentioned even. But I just couldn’t remember where or why. Until I got there and saw so many familiar faces! It was part of the iWoot case study of course. Tam and I managed to goad someone itno creating a group just for group hugs which we promptly joined. And between being on voice with so many friends at once and all the hugging, I went to bed one happy avatar girl.
Now, if only iWoot would ship those flying monkeys to the US, I’d actually shop there too!
Partying with Jewelry!
So we were hanging out at Cake checking out their new hair releases, when TheDiva Rockin’ said there was a party that needed warm bodies and started TPing everyone over. And being the people we are, we of course went right away. After all, what could be finer than partying with jewelry?
So over we went and party we did. Nexeus Fatale was DJing and tons of familiar faces were there. Lostmedia Ares was smoking up the joint a a bit *coughcough* but we all had a great time. (Okay, maybe it wasn’t Lostmedia’s fault…. but he’s fun to blame.)
I also visited the expo and bought lots of pretty shiny things this weekend. I will try to write about some of those later.
